In a world where perceptions are often skewed by media and socio-political narratives, I advocate for a closer look at the stories of the people and families inhabiting diverse cultures. By observing and listening to the stories of individuals living in remote regions, we can appreciate endogenous cultures that have been passed through generations and have managed to survive in the modern world. Their tales are often overlooked, yet they represent the lost heartbeat of our shared humanity.

The project “Beyond Borders” marks the beginning of a series of stories told by international individual who have travelled deep into Russia. I aim to share their experiences in order to challenge the stereotypes that the media has often portrayed. Our identities are intricately woven into our memories, and I firmly believe that our past is a guiding compass for our future.
'Beyond Borders’ is more than a project; it's a transformative journey transcending cultural barriers. It is an invitation to delve into the unfamiliar world through the eyes of a young French traveller, discovering the authentic and untold stories of Russia.
During the exhibition, viewers become more than just observers; they participate in this journey. They are invited to share in the experiences, emotions, and revelations of a voyage that navigates beyond stereotypes, unveiling the true essence of another culture.
This book is the result of a unique collaboration with a French friend who, as a student, embarked on a transformative journey to Russia. Her experiences were pure, unaffected by preconceptions or external influences; she encountered Russia in its most pristine form.
Her journey, her emotions, and the places she passed through are all faithfully recorded on these pages. This book is not simply a travel narrative but a profoundly personal account of her encounters and impressions. Her experiences of Russia - the people she met, the places she visited - are captured with a rawness and immediacy that transcend the boundaries of language and culture.
The book is enriched with a series of audio recordings made by Benedict during her travels in Russia. For a truly immersive experience that captures the full depth of emotions and ambiance, I suggest reading while simultaneously listening to the accompanying sounds.
